Important Rules for Poker TournamentsSeats in tourneys can’t be decided by the player or even the organizers of the event. Seats are always determined in chance fashion; it could be a result of a draw or something equally random. If you and your friend have actually hatched a plan to cheat the other players simply by always playing together – think again! Similarly, changing of seat is not usually permitted unless it is otherwise indicated by the head of the event. It’s the same for all tournaments. Everyone will be given a specific amount of chips. If a player is nowhere to be found, he will still be given the necessary amount of chips. The blinds and other forced antes shall also be automatically taken care of by the casinos even in the case of an absentee player. Naturally, the organizers would try to find absentee players to inform them the game has started. The amount set for blinds and limits for each round is automatically increased to a certain percentage for each succeeding stage. A player must be physically present to stop a move from being completed by calling “time”. If you’re not present and it’s your turn, your hand is immediately killed. The last player of a table will be immediately assigned to another table with empty seats. The number of players in a table will always be kept balanced to ensure unbiased play. Be sure to reveal your hand at the showdown. Don’t peek at a player’s cards when he folds! If you’re being timed, you have 1 minute and 10 seconds to make a move before your hand gets killed. Eliminated players must leave the table immediately. There's no excuse or reason for you to stay longer at the table. A deck shall only be changed if and when there’s a damaged card. Players are not allowed to request for a change of decks. If there’s a dealer button, the first dealer shall be the player with the highest card. |
